BFA MOROGORO CHARITY EVENT.
On the 13th of April 2024, the Builders of Future Africa (BFA) Morogoro Chapter organized a heartwarming charity event at Mafiga Primary School in Morogoro, Tanzania. The event aimed not only to provide essential learning materials but also to engage in meaningful discussions on crucial topics such as gender-based violence, discipline, and self-awareness. It was a collaborative effort involving BFA leaders, members, and non-members from the local community.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
The event kicked off with an inspiring opening address by Elisante Ephrahim. He encouraged everyone to introduce themselves, setting a warm and inclusive tone for the day. Elisante Ephrahim emphasized on the spirit of giving and helping children in our communities so that they can achieve their goals.
Focus Group Discussion:
- Participants eagerly organized the children into small focus groups. where they imparted invaluable knowledge and skills relating to self-awareness, the importance of gender equality, protection and reporting on any Gender-Based Violence that they might face, and the significance of discipline in shaping bright futures.
Interactive Session:
- Ms. Enoith and Debora led a series of engaging and interactive games, using songs to energize the children. These activities weren’t just about fun they were carefully designed to bring positive values and build essential life skills. Winners of the various games were rewarded with thoughtful gifts, sparking smiles of delight.
Gift Presentation:
- Every child at Mafiga Primary School received a bundle of stationery supplies to help them in their education. The gift included books, a pen, a pencil, and bites.
OUTPUT:
- 32 pupils were able to participate in the outreach program.
- 10 BFA members and 9 non-members from Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Morogoro participated in the outreach.
- 32 pupils were provided with stationery supplies to support their academics.
- 32 pupils were provided with essential knowledge about topics such as gender-based violence, self-awareness, and discipline, aiming to empower them with valuable life skills and awareness of important societal issues.
OUTCOMES:
- 32 pupils demonstrated their understanding of reporting and awareness regarding Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
- Each member demonstrated a willingness to participate and contribute their resources to support pupils at Mafiga Primary School.
- Every pupil showed eagerness to share knowledge with other pupils who didn’t have the opportunity to participate in the outreach program.
Problems Encountered:
Throughout the day, we encountered several challenges that children still face.
- Many students lacked basic school supplies, such as stationery, hindering their ability to engage in their studies fully.
- Financial constraints prevented some children from acquiring proper school uniforms, potentially impacting their sense of belonging and self-esteem.
- Certain students exhibited vulnerability, highlighting the need for ongoing support and follow-up.
Conclusion:
The community outreach event at Mafiga Primary School was a resounding success made possible by the dedication and generosity of all involved. It served as a testament to the transformative power of collective action in nurturing brighter futures for our youth.
